Welcome to the Seven Hills
A quick story about... Who we are and why we are here?
Being told your team is going to fold and pull out of it's league isn't the easiest news to take. And being told 4 days before your opening game of the season doesn't make it any easier.
The team we were, was created to support mental health, promote exercise, raise awareness of shared issues and raise money for charity... a cause all the players were behind. So when the manager wanted to take time away for personal health reasons, everyone understood... but no one wanted to stop playing the game they loved. Stopping the team would have a negative impact on players and the community.
The initial aim was to continue as the team we were, with senior players stepping up to help steer the ship... every single player cast a vote in favour of continuing.
But barriers were put in our way which meant the team wouldn't be able to continue. So if we wanted to keep playing and continue our work, we'd have to find another route.
Luckily, from the off, we had the support of the Sheffield and Hallamshire CFA and Sheffield Flourish League and a decision was made to form a new team.
We'd now need to start a fresh, no kit, no balls, no equipment, no balls, no league... literally nothing other than what the players have themselves.
But we had a passion to make a difference and a spirit to win.
With all these ups and downs, we'd need a name to band together behind, something we could believe in.
Something that represented us all, where we played and where we are from... something that is our home.
And that's how we were born.
We are the Seven Hills.
