Today's game was our 1st as S7HAFC vs De La Salle.
We started the game, playing some lovely football and showing some real character and grit.
De La Salle began creating some chances and taking more control of the game, but a quick break from Liam and a shot from 20yards, found it’s way into the net, and we are 1-0 up… a great start. Assist from Gav.
As the game went, De La Salle's began to get back into it, leaving Seven Hills with some hard work hard, but the lads were standing to the challenge.
A free kick given away by Seven Hills in a dangerous position, produced a stunning strike and with that, the game was 1-1.
Seven Hills picked themselves up and dusted themselves down. Some neat play continued and a lovely ball was played from Carlo, at left back, with captain Paddy slotting home to go in at half time 2-1 up.
Changes made at half time saw some new players introduced to the team. The changes shook the squad a little and De La Salle took advantage. Seven Hills lost a bit of identity and taking full advantage, De La Salle quickly made it 2-2 then… and before we knew it, it was 6-2 De La Salle.
Seven Hills carried on, and battled, with the score line not fitting the game. And never giving up, a late goal made it 6-3.
Overall, there were large positives in the first half, but a below second half performance cost us today. The team will learn and work hard, but it's good to be playing!
