Seven Hills AFC
De La Salle

Our first Flourish league game saw us come up against De La Salle.

Our previous game against them was a 6-3 reverse back in September, and we were looking to show how we'd progressed.

Lining up in 442 Seven Hills set out to try and put some pressure on the De La Salle backline. Mark picked up the ball in the middle third and drove forward, taking a speculative shot from outside the box that wasn't far away.

Seven Hills started well, getting a good hold on the game and with some steady defensive work being spearheaded by Gav.

But as the game worse on, the battle in the middle of the park was being lost and a formation change was needed to add more bodies in the central area.

The game continued now being much more even and a little bit scrappy.

Neither team creating a real opportunity or testing the keepers.

Second half saw Seven Hills picked back up and started to get back into the game. Following what was a fairly quiet first half, players were now more vocal and demanding more of each other.

Tired legs in the middle wore out and changes were needed, but overall the game was still equally balanced.

De La Salle started to look more threatening from set pieces and corners as the game went one. And with a low in swinging corner from the right, and a slight panic from Seven Hills, the ball was bundled home by Woz. An own goal and conceding against the run of play in general.

The game continued, with Seven Hills not letting their heads dropped. More defensive rigidity kept De La Salle out and play was focused in the final third.

But Seven Hills couldn't break down the resolve of De La Salle and it was to finish 0-1 at the final whilstle.

The team despondent at the result, more because they knew what they were capable of, and that they were at least deserving of a point in the end.

A slight break in league games for now, and the team will regroup in training sessions and a friendly that's TBC.
