Todays game saw Seven Hills visit North Doncaster for a league game against Sands United FC Doncaster.

Still yet to pick up a point in the league, following last months narrow loss to De La Salle, Seven Hills came into this game with great determination to take home those 3 points.

The last game between the pair ended 7-3 to Seven Hills, with Sands fielding a number of development players and now looking to make a point of their own.

The game started in a nervy fashion for both teams, and no one really taking control early on. The pitch already cut up by a game in the morning, was proving difficult to play, not helped by the grass that seems a little long in patches. Short balls weren't working for either team as it got caught up, so it became a very end to end long ball game.

A forced change was needed as Alex picked up an injury that could see him out for a few months. Craig came on in his place to settle into the back 4.

Seven Hills continued and started to take control of the game. A formation change from 442 to 451 moved Joe out wide and Lewi into the number 10 role and proved pivotal to the game. Joe was finding space out wide and had the full back for pace with every ball. Crosses were being peppered in, but just out of reach.

Eventually tho, Jared managed to fire one home, his first in the league this season. But it wasn't all positive for Jared as later in the first half the referee requested he be substituted to "calm down" following a little moan when the ball hit the referee and stop a Seven Hills counter attack. We'll say no more on this matter!

Sands had time for another attack and Marsh was forced into action, tipping the ball over the bar from a shot come cross.

1-0 at half time and Seven Hills looking stronger as they went in to the break.

Second half started strong, with the defence absorbing all the pressure of long balls from Sands with relative ease. The referee however again starts to give warnings, this time to JD, who slid to block a cross, apparently in a dangerous fashion, despite being at least a meter away from the player!

Shortly after this, JD's game was up, the knock from the previous week causing issues, so Gav dropped back into defence and JR came on in the holding role.

As legs tired on the Sands team, Seven Hills saw much more of the ball, and Lewi was pulling strings in the middle (videos to be uploaded later on facebook and insta). Some nice football continued from Seven Hills, with lovely triangles being played down the left causing issues for Sands, and bringing more goals from Lewi and JR.

But the clean sheet wasn't to be had, as a penalty was conceded. Marsh went the wrong way, but it didn't hamper his overall performance which was outstanding.

There was time for a bit more drama, as Lewi picked the ball up deep and penetrated into the box, the sound of his leg being caught was audible for all on the sidelines… but apparently it wasn't enough to convince the referee.

Game finishes 3-1 and Seven Hills take home their first points of the campaign.
