Seven Hills AFCAlex Goodchild, Ben Ward, Thomas Burniston3Futures FC3
An early pitch inspection caused this game into doubt, but both teams reviewed the surface and with the referee agreeing, were happy to play.
Seven Hills started brightly, with some great possession, but gave the ball away cheaply in the middle and then subsequently conceded a freekick in an advanced position. The outcome felt inevitable, 1-0 to futures, with their first real touch of the ball.
Seven Hills goalkeeper would then shortly after succumb to an injury and require substituting. With no backup keeper on the bench, Paddy stepped up to go between the sticks.
Seven Hills ploughed on, getting back into the game, and the chances started to develop thick and fast. Goals from Tommy B and Ben in quick succession would see them go in at half time at 2-1.
The second half started strong, and before too long it would be 3-1 to Seven Hills.
More chances would come, but the target wasn't being hit, so it felt inevitable that once Futures won another freekick in view of the goal, that they'd go for it… and so they did… 3-2!
The game became a bit more open as futures pressed for another, and more sloppy defending resulted in another freekick… the script could write itself here, 3-3… and that's how it would finish.
